The USEN Group advocates for metropolitan access carriers. These are communications carriers that specialize in optical fiber wiring for apartment housing complexes and office buildings in major metropolitan areas, utilizing subscriber lines in a variety of ways. Individual users are targeted mainly through activities related to apartment housing complexes. The Broadcasting Business has developed technological and business expertise in wiring apartment housing complexes, which it relies on to propose services to management associations, executive boards and owners, securing optical fiber wiring contracts, and increasing subscriber rates among residents through demonstrations of the service.

The History and Future of the Broadband & Telecom Business

The Group is working to build even greater net profits in the broadband market by improving service recognition among users, accelerating the rate of FTTH installations in concert with the expansion of digital content distribution, promoting subscriptions to the "GyaO HIKARI" service, and engaging in promotion and sales activities for the nation-wide "GyaO HIKARI with FLET’S" service packaged with NTT’s optical fiber network ("B FLET’S"). For corporate customers, the Group is working both independently and with external sales partners to develop a greater customer base.

* On October 1, 2007 UCOM Corporation officially absorbed MEDiA K.K. The underlying goal of the transaction is to enhance corporate value by pursuing synergies through integrating UCOM’s infrastructure capacity and operations expertise with MEDiA sales capacity.
